Creating Lasting Memories with a Family Photographer in Copenhagen

family photo shoot in copenhagen

As a family photographer in Copenhagen, I understand the importance of capturing those special moments that make your family unique.

Capturing your family's special moments and creating lasting memories is what I'm passionate about.

In this blog post, I'll guide you through what to expect during a family photo shoot, what we'll photograph, where we'll shoot, what to wear, and how long the session will last.

What to Expect During a Family Photo Shoot

Before the shoot, we'll have a consultation where we plan everything together, discussing what you want to achieve, where you would like the shoot to take place, and what style of photography you prefer.

This way, we can ensure that we capture exactly what you're looking for.

During the shoot, we'll take a range of candid shots, as well as some posed ones, to ensure that we have a variety of photos for you to choose from.

By doing this, we can create a photo collection that truly reflects your family and your unique personalities.

What We'll Photograph

What really matters is that we capture intimate moments of your current life, so that you can look back on these photos in years to come and remember the memories you made together.

This could include some of the daily activities that you do as a family. For example, we could capture moments of you cooking in the kitchen, playing games or doing a puzzle, getting dressed for the day.

Some parents like to read to their children, or to play an instrument, or to do anything else together.

These are the moments that may seem small and insignificant now, but they are the ones that you'll look back on with fondness and nostalgia.

Where We'll Shoot

I strongly suggest doing our session in your own home, where babies and people, in general, feel more relaxed in their own environment.

Plus, if we were to meet in a park, you may end up wearing clothes that aren't as comfortable or flattering as you would like.

Shooting at home is the perfect solution. It also allows us to capture the special moments and details that make your home unique.

Just remember to hide everything you wouldn’t want in photos: plastic, mostly.

If you’d rather shoot somewhere else, there’s plenty of amazing locations in Copenhagen: perhaps a park where you walk your stroller, or your neighbourhood.

The city center has some incredible spots.

What to Wear

I suggest wearing neutral clothes without logos or big prints that could be distracting. This ensures that the focus is on you and your family, not on any distracting clothing. If you'd like, you can even coordinate your outfits to make the photos look even more cohesive.

Pastel colors are usually very nice with babies, but don’t limit yourself. If you love leopard prints please wear that!

Don’t forget that these photos are about you, just as you are.

How Long the Session Will Last

I find that an hour is the sweet spot: it’s more than enough time to capture some fantastic shots, and any longer than this and people, especially babies, can become restless and the experience may become less enjoyable for everyone involved.

Unless you plan to have a special event photographed, like a birthday for example. In this case it would be better to talk about it and find a fitting match.

Don’t Forget to Print Your Photos!

As technology advances, it's easy to get caught up in the digital age and forget about the importance of printing photos.

Here's why you should consider printing your family photos:

  1. Tangible Memories - Printed photos offer a tangible way to relive memories and share them with loved ones. It's a beautiful feeling to hold a photo in your hands and see the smiles, laughter, and love captured in the image.

  2. Longevity - Digital files can become lost or corrupted, but printed photos can last for generations. When you print your family photos, you are creating a legacy that can be passed down to your children and grandchildren.

  3. Home Decor - Printed photos can be used to decorate your home, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Seeing your family photos on your walls or in frames around your house is a constant reminder of the love and joy in your life.

  4. Personalized Gifts - Printed photos make for thoughtful and personal gifts. You can create custom photo books, calendars, or frames to give to loved ones during special occasions.

Don't let your family photos get lost in the digital abyss. Take the time to print them out and create tangible memories that you and your loved ones can cherish for a lifetime.

And if you don’t know how or where to print your photos, I have plenty of suggestions for you.
