“What Do You Mean You’re Not Getting Married?!”
The Day I Saved an Elopement In Stevns Klint
“We’re thinking we might cancel…”
That’s what the couple told me.
ON THEIR WEDDING DAY.
After traveling all the way to Denmark.
After dreaming about their elopement for months.
And no, they weren’t joking.
Let me back up
a bit
I was booked to photograph a beautiful elopement at Stevns Klint, one of the most breathtaking coastal spots in Denmark.
It's about a one-hour drive from Copenhagen, a dream setting for couples who want that rugged Nordic magic in their wedding photos.
It’s a very small town, there are no hotels.
So the couple was staying in a remote Airbnb nearby, planning to take a taxi to the local town hall for the ceremony.
Everything was set. The sun was out. I was on my way.
And then...
Their taxi never showed up.
No Ubers. No buses. No friendly Danish farmers with wagons. Just the two of them, in wedding clothes, stranded in the countryside.
“Should we just cancel?”
That’s what they asked me when they called, a little panicked, completely unsure of what to do. They had no transport, no backup plan, and no idea how to get to Stevns Town Hall in time.
They were ready to give up.
Now, I could have been like:
“Well, I hope you figure it out! Let me know if you reschedule!”
But I wasn’t about to let that happen.
Luckily, I had made a decision earlier that morning: to rent a car instead of taking the train.
And that’s when I said the words that changed the day:
“You’re not getting married anymore?!
What the fuck are you talking about?
I’m coming to pick you up. NOW”
Not just a photographer
When couples book me as their elopement photographer - especially for remote destinations like Stevns Klint - they're not just booking someone who knows how to take great photos.
They’re booking someone who:
Knows the local logistics
Plans ahead for surprises
Stays calm under pressure
Will actually get you to the wedding if it comes to that
And in this case? That literally meant driving (fast) through the Danish countryside to rescue the day.
What would’ve happened?
Let’s be honest - without that call, their day would’ve been ruined.
They would have:
Missed their ceremony slot at the Town Hall
Lost the legal documentation they came all the way to Denmark for
Had to restart the entire process - from documents to travel plans
Spent even more money and time rebooking everything
Instead, they got married. On time. At a jaw-droppingly beautiful location.
And we captured it all.
So... why am I telling you this?
Because anyone can show up with a camera.
But if you’re looking for the best wedding photographer in Denmark, or comparing wedding photographer Copenhagen prices, I want you to know what that price really includes.
It includes someone who’s not just there to take pretty pictures - but someone who has your back, all the way, someone that makes sure your day happens beautifully. No matter what.
Ready to get married without stress?
