where to eat in Copenhagen after your wedding: fine dining (1000+ DKK per person)
we’re foodies
We’ve eaten our way through Copenhagen
so you don’t have to guess
You’ve just eloped in Copenhagen — a city known not only for its timeless charm and cobbled streets, but also for some of the best fine dining in Europe. Now comes the part you’ll remember just as vividly: the dinner.
Copenhagen offers an extraordinary list of romantic restaurants perfect for celebrating your wedding. Here you’ll find plenty of Michelin-starred dining rooms and hidden gems with world-class tasting menus.
And this isn’t some generic roundup. I’ve sat at every one of these tables, tasted the menus, felt the atmosphere. These are the fine dining spots I’d confidently recommend to any couple looking for something truly special after saying “I do” in Denmark.
Geranium
Three Michelin stars. Three!
Art on a plate. Meat-free fine dining in a sleek, high-rise setting. Book months ahead.
Iluka
Seafood-focused fine dining that doesn’t feel pretentious. Quiet, thoughtful, and beautifully executed. Close to the most instagrammable place in Copenhagen: Nyhanv. Dinner only.
Tèrra
Italian tasting menus with serious refinement. Run by just two people — and with only three tables — it’s one of the most intimate dining experiences in the city. Organic, slow-food ethos in every bite. Closed Mondays & Sundays.
A little extra
I haven’t made it to these spots yet—but they’ve been on my radar for a while. These are the places friends rave about, where couples go to celebrate big moments, and where the chefs are doing something just a little different. If you’re looking for something ambitious, artistic, or just flat-out unforgettable, these are worth looking into.
Alchemist
This isn’t just dinner — it’s a 50-course immersive experience that blurs the line between art, performance, and food. The entire night unfolds in multiple rooms, each with its own atmosphere. People come out of it talking about it for years. It’s intense, bold, and completely unlike anything else in Copenhagen — or anywhere else, honestly.
Sushi Anaba
Eight seats. One chef. Precision-level sushi served omakase-style, flown in from Japan and prepared right in front of you. It’s incredibly quiet, focused, and intimate. The kind of place where you sit, watch, eat — and say almost nothing, because the food kind of speaks for itself.
Alouette
Hidden down a gritty alley in an old industrial building, and yet — inside — it’s all soft light, exposed brick, and warmth. The food is contemporary, creative, and grounded. If you love the idea of a place that feels secret but still deeply welcoming, this might be it.
Esmée
A touch of Paris in Copenhagen. Stylish, a little grand, but still relaxed enough to laugh over dinner. The menu leans French-European with local ingredients, and the room is stunning. Great if you want something refined, but still fun. Very very central.
